Herbal Supplements to stop snoring
There are herbal supplements which are intended to be stop snoring aids. The theory behind these herbal remedy products is that the combination herbs in the pills will open airways to reduce snoring. They often contain herbs like horseradish and bromelain (from pineapples.)
The airways cleared by the herbs reducing nasal dryness or drainage to make breathing more comfortable.
Essential oils can also be useful, in particular rosemary, which will help you to breathe more easily. Many oil blends are sold specifically to stop snoring, and they’re worth trying.
Strips and Sprays
Nasal strips are a widely advertised stop snoring aid, this product is a small plastic strip that rests on the outside of the nose lifting the nasal walls and allowing freer breathing. Nasal strips work best for occasional snoring due to colds or other illnesses which restrict nasal breathing.
Nasal sprays are another popular stop snoring aide, the spray is intended to moisten nasal passages therefore eliminating the body’s need to create extra moisture (nasal drainage). However, these sprays do not often work as advertised and many people still snore while using these sprays.
Throat sprays are a stop snoring aid designed to lubricate the back of the throat tricking the body in to believing the person is sleeping with their mouth closed. The theory behind this is that snoring is some how caused by dryness at the back of the throat due to an open mouth. This method rarely if ever works in the long run.
Bands and Pillows
Stop snoring aid head bands are designed to wrap the users face, under the chin to the crown of the head in a soft wrap. The intention of this product is to keep the users mouth closed while sleeping therefore eliminating snoring.
Pillows are also available which are specially designed as a stop snoring aid. The pillow is intended to keep the users head at such an angle that either the mouth naturally wants to close in that position or it will force the user to lie on their side to sleep.
There are also devices intended to be worn on the persons back. This stop snoring aid would have some sort of lump on the person’s back making it uncomfortable to sleep on their back. More people snore on their back as compared to when sleeping on their side or stomach.
Anyone who snores should be tested for a very serious condition known as sleep apnea before undertaking any stop snoring aid regimen. Most stop snoring aids are designed for people without sleep apnea. Only a doctor can perform tests to determine if the snorer is suffering from a relatively harmless or potentially dangerous condition.
